Thirumani – Thirumanikatti

Thirumanikatti is one the prasadham given in the Aindhuveetu Swamy temple. It considers as very powerful and precious. Thirumanikatti is prepared from a type of white sand. The powder of white sand mixed with water and make many small balls with it. This ball leaves to dry in the sunlight. This is used as thilagam for the devotees. People drink the thirumanikatti water for their disease as medicine. We can understand the value of thirumanikatti among people from naming their children as “Thirumani”. The special trees of Aindhuveetu Swamy temple are the Neem and the Bidi leaves. People drinks the water mix the Bidi leaves.

At the time of carnival, the Annaviyar draws the “Ashtasharam” (eight letter mantra) in all the shrines of the Aindhuveetu Swamy temple with the thirumanikatti. Still, this is in practice.
